Preliminaries

The following questions will be helpful in the initial planning stages of any building program.

Motivation
  • Is the Lord in it?
  • Is it for His glory alone?
  • Will He be praised through the facility?
  • Have we prayed fervently about this program?
  • Is it unquestionably needed?

Location
  1. Should we maintain the present congregation size and build a branch church somewhere else?
  2. Do we stay where we are and add to our existing facilities?
  3. Do we move our entire facility to a new location and sell what we have now?
  4. Can we purchase land adjacent to our existing facilities for expansion?
Construction
  • In what ways are the existing facilities not meeting our needs?
  • What factors support building at a new location as opposed to the current location (highway development near the church, city water/sewer, urban sprawl, demographic considerations, etc.)?
  • Is the congregation in favor of constructing new facilities?
  • Do we really need what we think we need?
  • Do we want to manage/build the project ourselves?
